In India everybody is in a hurry but nobody reaches on time. Almost every young kid wants to ride a bike end enjoy the thrill of high speed. The irony is that no Indian has ever been a strong contender either in Moto GP or Formula One Racing. We stop when a cat crosses our path but we rarely slow down at a red signal. There is no difference in speed whether the vehicle is on a highway or on a zebra crossing. Its always "my-way" as far as a rider is concerned. Approximately 382 people are killed in India, daily because of road accidents.
Its not just the bikes or young guys that are responsible. The whole generation doesn't want to stop. They have taken the term, "4G speed" very seriously. State road transport corporation bus drivers drive as if they need to reach their home urgently. Guys, the bus stop is built for the buses to stop there and let the people enter it. They just drive through it, wait for only few seconds and done. It resembles very much with the Formula One Racing scenario where the driver actually stops for the pit crew to reassemble his car. May be the bus drivers want to break the record. They just race like hell even when few people are trying to board the bus. As a matter of fact the buses don't stop when there are only a few people or only one person waiting for the bus. Boys who are not able to board a bus while its running are given a look which makes them think as if it were a necessary skill. Drivers should be tested based on their ability to use brakes not horn or accelerator. Period.
Rich young brats are gifted expensive cars and bikes on their 15th, 16th, 17th birthday without any suggestion or advise. Even on a box which contains a toy car there's a suggestion written, "To be handled with care". I guess the expensive cars don't have brakes. And I think the visual from their wind shield look more and less like this.
But the actual view is very much similar to this one
The only thing that allows them to drive at such speeds is the leniency is law. Don't drive and drive. This is by far written in English on every traffic signal. They follow this very strictly because they don't drink and then drive. They actually drink while driving. Sounds very convenient. "Car-O-Bar". Pedestrians need to actually look on two sides when crossing a one-way on a red signal. The word "stop" on a red signal is read more by the pedestrians rather than the riders. The riders actually think that, it's the pedestrian who must stop.
People circle around on an accident spot and curse the driver, push other guys to get a look of the site but nobody ever, ever suggests or warns their children to drive slowly. The population in our country is very huge. A lot of people commute on the road daily. But not everybody reaches on time. Some of them never reach their destination.
